VicSuper once again a major partner for Sleep at the G'

VicSuper is once again partnering with Melbourne City Mission in 2017 as a major corporate partner for its annual fundraising event, Sleep at the ‘G, to be held on Thursday 4 May 2017.

VicSuper raised over $20,000 alone for the initiative through collaborative employee fundraising activity in 2016.

As a large Victorian business and as a super fund, VicSuper believes it has a powerful voice that can be used to drive positive change on the issues important to the Fund and its members. By partnering with Melbourne City Mission, VicSuper aims to raise awareness about the impacts of youth homelessness through the Sleep at the ‘G event.

Michael Dundon, VicSuper CEO said “We’re very excited to once again be a part of such a great initiative; homelessness is a persistent and growing problem in Victoria and has a huge impact on the Victorian community. It is also important that our employees are engaged in delivering community outcomes. Not only does it benefit the issues that we are passionate about, but it also helps to develop our culture and keep our team involved and connected.”

Sleep at the ‘G provides the Victorian community with the opportunity to raise funds and break the cycle of disadvantage some Victorians are facing.

It’s a powerful and symbolic way to raise community awareness about this serious issue; over 7,000 Victorians under 25 are homeless on any given night. Frontyard Youth Services, Melbourne City Mission’s CBD based service is visited by almost 300 young people each fortnight. Young people who are at risk of, or currently experiencing homelessness.
This partnership comes after the great work VicSuper did back in July 2015, when it launched its Community Connect Program in Geelong which is aimed at building the financial skills and knowledge of those in the Geelong community through a number of different initiatives.

VicSuper’s alignment with Melbourne City Mission primarily demonstrates its commitment to corporate responsibility and mission to connect with fellow Victorians. Being a profit to member super fund, VicSuper is committed to addressing socio-economic issues and help make a difference by providing people with the prospect of a better life.
