A solid start to the financial year for VicSuper investment returns

Chant West have released their results for Quarter 1 of 2015/16 for super fund performance. The results have revealed a slow start to the financial year for Australian super funds across the board, due to negative returns for most equity markets globally.

Reassuringly for VicSuper members: VicSuper's Growth (MySuper) Option, Capital Stable Option, Balanced Option and Equity Growth Option (the VicSuper options included in Chant West's comparison) all performed above the median for 3 and 5-year performance in their respective categories.

Of particular note, Chant West ranked VicSuper's Balanced Option number 1 for 3-year performance in the Balanced category, and VicSuper's Capital Stable Option scored the top spot for both 3 and 5-year performance in the Conservative category. (For full details on investment returns for all of VicSuper's investment options go to vicsuper.com.au/investments.)

"We're very pleased with the results, particularly as September was a volatile quarter for equities globally," VicSuper's Chief Investment Officer, Oscar Fabian, commented.

"While we look at quarterly results, we're most concerned about providing consistent returns over the long-term. And I'm very pleased as at the end of September that the medium to longer term performance of VicSuper's investment options remained strong," Mr Fabian concluded.
