Chant West report shows VicSuper has continued to deliver strong returns

Independent researchers, Chant West have released the results for super fund performance for the 2014/15 financial year.

According to Chant West's report, the VicSuper Growth (MySuper) option ranked second for 5-year investment performance, fourth for 3-year performance, and ninth for 1-year performance, in the MySuper category.

VicSuper's Capital Stable option achieved a number one ranking for 1, 3, and 5-year investment performance in the Conservative funds category.

The five VicSuper investment options compared (as listed in the table below) all achieved top 10 rankings in their respective categories, for 1, 3 and 5-year performance against the other super funds surveyed, with the exception of VicSuper Equity Growth, which ranked 13th for 1-year performance.

The VicSuper Balanced investment option also performed strongly, ranking number one in the Balanced funds category over a 1 and 3-year timeframe, and coming in at number 2 for its 5-year performance.

VicSuper's Chief Executive Officer, Michael Dundon said, "We are very proud of these results. We're here to help our members meet their financial goals in retirement, and providing them with consistent, long-term performance on their super investment is a significant part of that."

"The performance of our default investment option [VicSuper Growth (MySuper)] shows that getting a solid return from your superannuation does not mean you need to pay high fees to an investment manager. Our MySuper option is open to everyone at a very competitive cost."

Chant West's results reveal a sixth straight year of gains for superannuation funds across Australia.

VicSuper's Chief Investment Officer, Oscar Fabian commented, "While we've seen a number of years of above average returns, it's important for investors to remember that long term objectives take into account expectations of market fluctuations; both up and down,"

"Our investment strategy is designed to allow us to capitalise on return-enhancing and risk-reducing strategies which aim to achieve consistent long-term returns for our members. Our investment team and investment managers are continually monitoring the markets to respond to opportunities and manage risks," Mr Fabian concluded.

Please note that past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.
